SAN ANTONIO–Founded as a one-man shop in a backyard shed, Knight Office Solutions now employs more than 100 full-time staff members throughout Central and South Texas. This month, the San Antonio-based technology services provider celebrates its 30th year in business.
Established during the economic downturn of the early 1990s, the company initially served customers by providing an alternative to high-priced toner cartridges. As customer needs changed, Knight expanded its product offering to include network-connected MFPs and managed print services in 2003. Led by new business partner, John Cheney, that effort would prove pivotal for the firm, ushering in an era of growth that continues today.
“When I founded Knight in November 1990, my goal was to help businesses maximize their technology ROI,” said Mitch Huffman, Knight’s Founder. “That goal continues to drive everything we do, though the solutions we use to achieve it have changed over the years.” Today, Knight offers a variety of technology services, including printer/copier sales and support, managed IT solutions, and document workflow software.
Just as the firm’s offering has grown, so too has its service area. In 2007, Knight expanded into the Austin market under the leadership of longtime industry veteran, George Ross. Knight would later establish a presence in the Coastal Bend with the acquisition of local Canon dealer, Business Product Supply, in 2018. Since then, Knight has expanded its corporate headquarters in San Antonio and relocated its Austin office—more than doubling the firm’s footprint in the Texas Capital.
